As a local business or organization, you know how important it is to have good reviews online and business profiles – like Yelp – that are easy to find, have all the information your customers are looking for, and have great reviews.
Ever wonder how your business listings are doing? Are they optimized to reach the most people possible?
This is a quick guide to auditing your business listings.
Moz.com – a very reputable online business – created a great tool to help you find your business listings and make sure they’re as optimized as possible.
Getlisted.org
This tool is so easy to use that you’ll be looking at the status of your business listings in 4 easy steps:
- Go to GetListed.org and click on the “Check my Listing Score” button.
- Enter your business name and zip code.
- The search should return a list of businesses similar to your search criteria. Find your business and click on it.
- Analyze the results
The results will provide insight into the status of your business listings on the most popular listing sites. Start by figuring out why your business is getting the score listed (59% in the example below) by clicking on the tabs at the bottom:
We clicked on the “Complete” tab and here is the information it shared:
In this example there are some minor edits to be made to the listings on the left. Additionally, we may consider creating or claiming profiles on the sites that are completely grey – which means it couldn’t find any results for this business on those sites.
Investigative Searching
The best part is this tool does the investigative work for you.
It tells you what needs to be done in order to complete your listing and boost your business ranking.
In this example, I found that one of the listings needs 5 more photos and 4 more categories to get closer to completion.
Both are simple tasks that can be taken care pretty quickly.
